OVW TV #971: "Gunn Snipes Dan"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, March 28, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, we find out 2 of the men that Michael Hayes will face in a TLC match at the April SNS, LJ defends the OVW TV Title, Dr. Ted McNaler has exclusive news on the latest edition of Dr. Manbeast's Wrestling Clinic, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Billy O defeats SK Eveslage. Billy locks in a wristlock, then an armbar. Off the ropes, Billy plows SK over. He locks the armbar back in, as Amon & the Void come to ringside.
Billy is temporarily distracted, but still dropkicks SK, plows him down with another shoulder block, hits a hip toss, then another dropkick. SK rakes Billy in the eyes and throws him out of the ring near Amon & the Void. Billy gets up ready to fight the Void & Amon, but SK clocks him from behind. He rolls Billy back in and misses a charge in the corner. Billy hits a big clothesline, followed by a spinebuster. He hits the high knee in the corner and gets the 3.

Dimes & "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson defeat Andrew Thomas, "The Vet" Apollo, & "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. A quick start for Apollo's squad, but he gets mad at Thomas & Sam for not listening to him. He tells Sam to quit diving, and Thomas to stay on his feet. He finally gets fed up and leaves them to fight by themselves. Thomas has control and tags in Sam. Sam takes the Bros & Dimes down with enziguris and super kicks. He has Dustin down and goes up top, but Colton pulls Dustin out and Dustin pulls his head down across the top rope. They connect with the Snapshot for the 3.

"The Varsity Babes": Meg & Cali defeat Valerie Vermin & Jaylee (w/DL3). Meg with the size and power advantage against Val early. Cali tags in and works Val over until she tags out to Jaylee. Jaylee charges in, but Cali arm drags her down. She clotheslines her twice, but then Val knees her in the back off the ropes. Jaylee hits her from behind and Val tags in and kicks her in the back. Jaylee tags back in, and her & Cali double clothesline each other. Both tag, and Meg clotheslines Val and side slams her. She delivers a big powerslam, then boots Jaylee down. Val slides off Meg's shoulders and goes for a tag, but Jaylee leaves her. Val turns around and gets a big spear from Meg for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Dr. Ted McNaler & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Brittany is the ring announcer.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats Aloicious Hamilton. A few holds exchanged, before Floyd shoulder blocks Alo down off the ropes. Alo catches Floyd with an arm drag and a dropkick. Floyd then catches Alo with an arm drag and a slam. Alo back with a slam, but misses a dropkick. Floyd then delivers a nice dropkick of his own. Floyd hits him in the corner, then catches him with a combo of jabs and chops. He goes for a slam, but Alo slides off. Floyd then catches him with a powerslam. He has him in the ropes for a DDT, but Alo drops him and hits a double legdrop across his back. He hits an inverted neckbreaker drop, but then Floyd catches him with a cutter out of nowhere for the 3.
After the match, Amon & the Void show up. Amon instructs his group to go after Alo. As they get in the ring, Chace Destiny & Nigel attack Alo, but Houdini bumps into Floyd. Floyd doesn't take kindly to it, and hits Houdini with a cutter. He then helps Alo fight off Nigel & Chace. The Void retreats and Alo looks for a handshake. Floyd doesn't shake hands, but nods his head and rolls out of the ring.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) defeats "Livewire" KTD. LJ keeps shouting out that he's the man. A lot of fast-paced action to start. LJ hits KTD with a huge back body drop. He misses a kick to the head and KTD hits him with a roundhouse kick. He delivers an inverted atomic drop, a regular atomic drop, then LJ flips over KTD. KTD runs into a boot, then LJ runs into a back elbow. KTD jumps out of the corner into a super kick. LJ goes up and hits a picture perfect knee to the head. He has KTD pinned, but pulls him up at 2. He locks in a submission instead and KTD is forced to tap.
After the match, Gilbert Corsey talks to LJ. He asks about his action of late. LJ says he will do anything it takes to keep his TV Title. Billy O comes out and gets in his face and they argue about Billy helping LJ, but LJ not returning the favor.

Dr. Ted McNaler is in the ring for his latest edition of the Wrestling Clinic. He has blockbuster news. #1, it was a wig that he was wearing. #2, the scoop on next week's final qualifying match is Zo vs. Adam Revolver and we know who will win that one. #3, it's his privilege to introduce the new OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Cardinal & DL3! Cardinal comes out and says he is tag team champions with DL3, but he's not his partner. He wanted to win, and they did, but it's a thorn in his side. Cardinal says all DL3 has to do is sit his butt in the corner and let him take care of things. DL3 comes out with the Entourage. DL3 says he got the pin and is the first ever individual Southern Tag Team Champions. They are interrupted by Shiloh Jonze & the Top Guys. Shiloh says as a good favor to Adam Slade, him & Kevin Giza are going to team up tonight and challenge for the titles. DL3 says no, he's not contractually obligated for 30 days. He carried the whole thing last week. Cardinal interrupts and says "sure"...
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: Cardinal & DL3 (c) defeat Kevin Giza & Shiloh Jonze. Giza & Shiloh take it to DL3 early. They hit several double team maneuvers, but can't put him away. Cardinal tags himself in by chopping DL3 hard in the chest. He maintains control over Shiloh & Giza until Shiloh runs him into the ringpost. Slade argues with Giza about what Shiloh is doing. Cardinal regains control until a chinbuster knocks him into his corner where DL3 tags himself in. Shiloh pulls a chain out of his boot and gets in a tug of war with Slade. Shiloh pulls it into hitting Giza by mistake and Cardinal hits his faceplant finisher. DL3 dropkicks Cardinal out of the ring and steals the pin.
After the match, Shiloh challenges Slade to a match at the April SNS...as long as HIS friend Giza can ref. Slade accepts.

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH: Amon defeats Dapper Dan. Before the match begins, Michael Hayes joins commentary and Dan single handedly takes out the Void at ringside. He gets in and exchanges blows with Amon. Amon catches him with a knee to the gut. Dan back with a release German suplex, but Amon regains control and works Dan over with a sleeper. Amon goes for the pedigree, but Dan flips him over. Dan fires back and hits Amon with a back elbow, shoulder block, and big clothesline. Amon is off his feet and rolls outside. Amon hits him on the outside and hits his head off the announce table. He does it again. Hayes is standing nearby and shoves the ref away from him and into Amon. Amon has a staredown with Hayes while Dan tears down a display set up at ringside with a table, ladder, and chair. He takes the chair and ladder down and points to the table.
Tony Gunn sneaks out from behind, grabs the chair, and cracks Dan from behind while the ref is trying to separate Amon & Hayes. Gunn rolls Dan in and Amon gets in for the pin, but Dan kicks out at 2. Amon connects with a pedigree and gets the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Josh Ashcraft says things will be better with Dean Hill's law out and Ashcraft's Anarchy in. He is feeling generous, so it's time for some 8-man tag action...
"The Void": Houdini & Nigel (w/Amon) & "The Hernandez Brothers": Christian Hernandez & Drew Crawft defeats BGB, Ashton Cole, Lukas Gibson, & William Lutz. BGB's squad has the early advantage and is going to town on the Void. Things break loose later as all 8 men end up in the ring. The Hernandez Brothers hit their finisher on Cole, allowing Houdini to pick up the 3.

"The Winter Swoldier" Adam Slade defeats Chace Destiny (w/Amon, Nigel, & Houdini). A back and forth opening. Chace takes control and works over Slade for a bit. Slade starts to come back, but gets tripped up by Houdini. Chace again has control, until Slade starts to fire back. Amon, Nigel, & Houdini get on the apron. Chace kicks Slade from behind, but then gets caught with Slade's finisher for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!
