OVW TV #962: "Antagonizing Allies"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 24, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Bud Dwight seeks revenge against Michael Hayes, Randall Floyd defends the OVW Television Title, Dapper Dan holds a hardcore invitational gauntlet, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/"Bad Girl" Jessie Belle) defeats Eddie Knight. Royal controls most of this match. Jessie gets some shots in on Eddie on the outside as well. Royal finishes him off with the Royal Flush for the 3.

"Bad Girl" Jessie Belle defeats OVW Women's Champion Jaylee (w/DL3, Dimes, & The Bro Godz). Jessie with the early control, hitting Jaylee with the Kiss My Grits. Off the ropes, Jessie gets tripped by Dustin Jackson. Jaylee pounds her on the mat, then hits her in the corner. Jaylee throws her in the opposite corner and splashes her. She tries again, but Jessie moves. Jessie throws her off the ropes and clotheslines her. She goes for the Belle Ringer, but the Bros get on the apron. Off the ropes again, Jessie is again tripped and the ref sees it and calls for the bell.

"Livewire" KTD defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. An evenly matched opening as they lock up around the ring. They exchange some headlocks and wristlocks. KTD takes Sam down to the mat. Sam comes back with a flying forearm off the ropes and a back elbow in the corner. He hits KTD with an uppercut and a super kick for 2. KTD ducks a clothesline and rolls him up for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 9PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Dr. Ted McNaler, Mike Lacett, & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and KC is the ring announcer.

Ted McNaler, Mike Lacett, & Gilbert Corsey start off the show by talking about last week's controversial ending to the TV Title match, but before the footage can be shown, they are interrupted by Michael Hayes. McNaler talks to Hayes about what he did last week to Bud Dwight.
Before Hayes can say much, Dwight pops out with a chair and hits Hayes in the back. He hits Hayes again, and as McNaler tries to shield and check on Hayes, Dwight takes him out too.
Dwight wraps the chair around Hayes arm and gets up on the ropes, but Dean Hill runs out to stop it. He says he has to find a way to keep them from killing each other, maybe by watching each other's backs and making them tag team partners.
Shiloh Jonze comes out and says as a tag team expert, someone who's competed in tag team matches, tornado tag team matches, tag team gauntlet matches, etc., he knows that the best thing to do is make people work out their problems in the ring when there is strife between them, so he says that Dwight & Hayes should face another team in strife, The Top Guys. Dean says Shiloh is a few chocolate chips short of a full cookie, but he does have a good idea. Next week, it will be the Top Guys vs. Dwight & Hayes.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Real Deal" Randall Floyd (c) defeats William Lutz. Randall controls early. He hits a big suplex and tries to lock in the modified Boston crab, but Lutz kicks him off. He hits an enziguri and the standing moonsault for 2. Randall catches him with the Deal Breaker slam, then locks in the modified Boston crab for the tapout.
After the match, Mike Lacett runs over to talk to Randall about last week's ending. Randall says he won, and LJ is never getting another shot at the title.
LJ comes out and says what's done is done, but he demands another shot at that title, that should be his. Randall says no way, he doesn't deserve it and he's tired of giving him opportunities. He will put the title on the line though if he can get LJ off his back, meaning he puts his career on the line. LJ accepts!

Amon is called out by Gilbert Corsey for an interview. He comes out with the Void and Gilbert runs off as Amon gives the mic to Chace Destiny. Chace says they hear whispers of those who want to come for us. Billy O & Aloicious Hamilton run out, but get taken out. BGB runs out and is taken out with an Amon powerslam. Chace asks if there are any other takers.
Zo comes out and runs over the Void and exchanges blows with Amon. He hits him with a roundhouse kick and a powerbomb, then clotheslines both members of the Void. He turns around and Amon is back up. Amon hits him with a pedigree. Houdini runs out and has a picture of Stu, and says "remember?". Amon drops to a knee looking at the picture, but gets back up, kicks Houdini, and gives him a pedigree also.

DL3 comes out with the Bro Godz, Dimes, & Jaylee. He says Cardinal expected a handicap match, but his "bro-duction team" consists of him and Dimes as well as the Bro Godz. If he can beat them, he can get him 1-on-1 at the Special!
Cardinal defeats Dimes, DL3, & "The Bro Godz": Dustin Jackson & Colton Cage (w/Jaylee). Cardinal totally controls the opening until the numbers game comes into play. He chases DL3 on the outside and runs into an elbow from Colton. The Bros hit the Colton splash/Dustin dropkick combo. On the outside, Jessie Belle is fighting with Jaylee. DL3 grbas the Women's title and goes to hit Cardinal, but Randy Royal shows up and pulls it away. DL3 runs away from Cardinal after Colton takes out his leg. They miss Bro 69 as Cardinal puts his knees up. Dimes tags in as he hits a double Death Valley Driver on the Bros. Cardinal then flips Dimes in the ring and superkicks a tooth out of his mouth and gets the 3.

HARDCORE INVITATIONAL GAUNTLET: Dapper Dan defeats SK Eveslage. SK comes out with a stick and battles Dan with his kendo stick. He hits Dan in the gut and goes to drop it on him, but Dan moves. Dan hits him in the head with the stick and gets the 3.
Dapper Dan defeats "The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson. Sam comes out and gets in some shots with a reserved parking sign, but Dan comes back with the kendo stick. He rams his head into a trash can and puts him away with the Death Valley Driver for the 3.
Dapper Dan defeats "The Vet" Apollo. Apollo uses foreign object after foreign object from his fanny pack, but Dan comes back and hits him with the release German suplex for the 3.
"Shotgun" Tony Gunn defeats Dapper Dan. Before Gunn even gets in the ring, Apollo clocks Dan from behind with a pair of brass knucks. Gunn gets in to pin, but Dan kicks out at 2. They go back and forth using different weapons. Gunn jumps off the ropes, missing the knee to the head, and fakes a knee injury. Dan turns his back, and Gunn rolls him up for a quick 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"Rump Thump" Stephon Smith defeats Flex. Stephon with some hip tosses and an attempt at a Rump Thump early, but Flex comes back with a spear. He also hits Stephon with a big spinebuster. Stephon fires back, and connects with the Rump Thump for the 3.

Meg defeats Cali. A show of respect between the Varsity Babes. This was a quick back and forth match, and Meg hits a big suplex. She overpowers Cali, and gets the 3.

"The Void": Chace Destiny & Damion (w/Amon) defeats "The Top Guys": Adam Slade & Kevin Giza. Giza with a hot start against Damion. The Void quickly takes control, though, and works Giza over for the majority of the match. Giza gets the hot tag to Slade, who powers over Chace & Damion, then delivers running uppercuts to each of them in opposite corners. He powerslams Chace, but Shiloh Jonze comes out with a chair and gets on the apron. Slade turns his attention to the ref trying to get him to make the pin, but Chace has recovered and rolls Slade up for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!
