OVW TV #904: "Taking Things to the Next Level"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, December 14, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Dean Hill announces a Nightmare Scramble tournament, Big Jon gets an explanation from Justin Smooth and faces a challenge from Rocco Bellagio and the Legacy of Brutality, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles defeats Adam Slade. Stu comes out on fire after Slade calls the fans a bunch of peasants. He misses a splash in the corner and Slade controls for a bit, before Stu catches Slade with a flapjack and locks in the cross arm submission for the tapout.

Dapper Dan Van Zandt (w/Scarlet) defeats Lucas Jacobs. Dan powers through Jacobs with hard clotheslines and a cannonball in the corner. He sits Jacobs on the top rope, and Jacobs hits him off and connects with a missile dropkick for 2. Jacobs can't believe it and turns around into a Death Valley Driver for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey & Dean Hill are on commentary and Gilbert is the ring announcer.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix defeats Jade Dawson. A very good back and forth match. Jade hits a huge fame stopper for 2. Matrix hits a pele kick and rolling thunder for 2. Jade tries an inside cradle for 2. Finally, Matrix is able to put Jade away after a samoan drop and swanton combo for the 3.
After the match, Matrix helps Jade up and they shake hands, but then Jade kicks him below the belt and spits on the title.

Dean Hill announces the Nightmare Scramble, where a lethal lottery draw will determine teams of superstars to tag together in a tournament. The winners will be determined in the finals at the next Saturday Night Special, where they will receive $10,000 and a future shot at the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles. He draws for the first match right now...

NIGHTMARE SCRAMBLE FIRST ROUND: Billy O & Kevin Giza defeat The Ringmaster & "The King of Hairstyle" Robbie Walker. Robbie is too busy looking in the mirror and then goes over to the announce table during the match. Ringmaster makes a valiant effort inside to keep the match alive as he is fighting by himself. Robbie runs back to the ring as Damion comes out and grabs his mirror. Robbie pulls it away and Damion messes up his hair, so Robbie leaves the arena. Ringmaster yells at Damion to go back to the back and turns into a double faceplant from Giza & Billy O and gets pinned.
After the match, Dapper Dan Van Zandt comes out and yells at Damion also, and Damion gets smacked and pushed to the back by Dan & Ringmaster.

Big Jon is interviewed by Gilbert Corsey again about Justin Smooth. Smooth comes out and says it's simple, he saw a man in need of help, and he wanted gold. Jon says most teams start out as friends, but it might be beneficial for them to start out as enemies since they know each other's strengths and weaknesses. They shake hands and make their team official as Rocco Bellagio comes out.
Rocco says this is cute, but everyone is here to see him, the soon to be longest reigning OVW Champion in history. Jon says to remember he had that belt before the Show Stealer ever got his hands on it. He says two real athletes like him & Smooth deserve a shot at that title. Rocco says he is in the giving mood, so they can face him and these two...as the Legacy of Brutality comes out.
Rocco says if they win, they can face him in a triple threat match at the next Special. If they lose, Jon cannot challenge him for the Heavyweight Title as long as he is champ, which will be forever, and the Legacy will get their rematch for the Southern Tag Titles. Everyone is okay with it, and Dean Hill comes over to make it official, and the match starts right now!

"Big Smooth": Big Jon & Justin Smooth defeats Rocco Bellagio & "The Legacy of Brutality": Ca$h Flo & Big Zo (w/Josh Ashcraft). Smooth gets ambushed by a 4-on-1 numbers game advantage as Jon gets restrained from entering the ring. Smooth finally makes a hot tag and comes in with clotheslines and spears. Smooth comes back in and catches Ca$h with a big boot to the face. Rocco comes in with the title and goes to hit Smooth, but he ducks and Jon grabs Rocco and tells Smooth to join, and they deliver a double chokeslam for the 3!

Rev. Stuart Miles comes out and has a good word. It's conquered, because he has conquered almost everyone who has stood in his way, and has conquered Adam Revolver when he got that strap and whipped him. He talked to Dean Hill backstage and is in the Nightmare Scramble, and even though his first round match isn't until next week, he wants to know who his partner will be. Dean gets in the ring and allows Stu to draw out his own partner, and it's Damion. Stu says that he has brought back an atheist and brought back someone who claimed to be Jesus Christ themself. This will be a challenge, but he knows he will help Damion see the light. Damion comes to ringside and Stu pets his head.

NIGHTMARE SCRAMBLE FIRST ROUND: "The Chosen One" Mitch Huff & "The Complete Athlete" Devin Driscoll defeat "Wrestling's Rockstar" Diamond & "Shotgun" Tony Gunn. Before the bell, Gunn hits Diamond from behind with a steel chair. Huff & Driscoll corner Gunn, but then Huff turns and delivers an Athlete's Foot to Diamond as he returns to his feet. Driscoll tells the ref to ring the bell and gets the 3. After the match, Gunn, Driscoll, & Huff embrace. Driscoll says he has been watching the show and is sick of seeing these "wrestlers" get all these undeserved shots. He says that the 3 of them would have paid anything to get a second in this ring years ago. They are true athletes and are not tomorrow's superstars today, they are today's superstars right now. They are Team Next Level!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Trevor Steele defeats LJ & Carlos Gabriel after hitting his finisher on both men in a 2-on-1 handicap match.

As always, thanks for reading!
