OVW TV #676: "A Preview of What's To Come?"

We had another great night at the Davis Arena as we head into this month's Saturday Night Special. We had the last semifinal in the Nightmare Cup, and emotions boiling over between "Smooth" Johnny Spade & Jamin Olivencia. Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Ricky Chevy came out with a picture of the Assassin. He said he's been trying to call out that "coward", Trailer Park Trash, for a match at Homecoming 9, but keeps getting interrupted by the Assassin. He said if the Assassin wants to come out and interfere in his business, he'll show him what he'll do to him in a match. Chevy then piledrives the picture and drops an elbow on it. The Assassin's music hits and as Chevy looks toward the curtain, the Assassin comes out from under the opposite side of the ring. The Assassin grabs Chevy's foot, and Chevy tries to get away. Assassin grabs Chevy's pants and pulls them off, and a little more, as Chevy scampers away in his underwear. This match wasn't all it was "crack"-ed up to be. MY TAKE: After we were blinded by Chevy's backside, it's hard to comment on much else.

Rob Terry b. Raphael Constantine. Constantine was upset to no longer have the ladies by his side, and was even more upset to learn that Big Rob was his opponent. Constantine brought a Book of Mormon to the ring with him, and told Terry to give him a second as he read about the "truth". Constantine tried to get in a cheap shot by hitting Terry in the head with the book, but Terry just stared at him. Constantine threw the book to Terry who started looking at it as Constantine ran the ropes. Constantine ran into Terry and knocked himself down, as Terry (still looking at the book) just stood there like a brick wall. Terry slammed him, and then placed him on the top rope and told him to bring it. Constantine jumped off, where Terry caught him for a big swinging side slam for the win. MY TAKE: Big Rob is back on a path of destruction making quick work of Constantine. When this monster is focused, can he be stopped?

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report. You can find the shows online at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

The show starts off backstage where the Mobile Homers are playing beer can Jenga. Jamin Olivencia interrupts their game and asks if they have seen Johnny Spade. They haven't and Jamin says if they do, to tell him that he's looking for him.

Nightmare Cup Semifinal: Michael Hayes & James "Moose" Thomas vs. The Best Team Ever (Rudy Switchblade & "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz)
Moose & Rudy started out, and Moose had the early advantage until Jessie got involved and turned the tide a bit. Rudy & Jessie worked on Moose's leg to keep him grounded, until Moose was able to fight Rudy off and get the tag to Michael. Michael came in on fire, but again Rudy & Jessie's cheap tactics swung the control back into their favor. After working over Michael for a while, he was able to get the tag back to Moose who came in and cleaned house. Michael & Moose were able to get Jessie out of the ring, and hit their double-team finisher for the pin on Rudy. WINNERS: MOOSE & MICHAEL. MY VIEW: Two of OVW's most popular tag teams will now meet up at SNS, Moose & Michael and the Mobile Homers. Who will come out on top, and could winning the Cup mean getting the next shot at the Best Team Ever and the Southern Tag Team Titles?

Scarlet vs. Epiphany
This was Scarlet's debut (it could have been Charlotte or Starlet, I'm not sure). She had a crazy chick gimmick. Epiphany charged after Scarlet a couple times, but missed as Scarlet mocked her with a sadistic look. Scarlet may have gotten in a chop or two, but Epiphany quickly took care of business with a couple punches and kicks before hitting her with her swinging suplex finisher for the win. WINNER: EPIPHANY. MY VIEW: Even though she will not be part of the Women's Title match at SNS, Epiphany made a statement that she shouldn't be forgotten.

Next up, Mo Green comes to the ring acting like commentator Gilbert Corsey who recently won 3 Emmys. He then introduces his special guest, Cliff Compton. It looks like Cliff is making his way to the ring with Mary Jane, but when the lights come back on, it's Chris Silvio dressed as Compton. Silvio proceeds to make fun of Compton, before "Gilbert" (Mo) calls out a special guest for "Compton", Chris Silvio! Out comes Raphael Constantine in Silvio's ring gear and a drawn on beard. "Compton" begs "Silvio" to not fight him at SNS, because he knows Silvio is so much better. This is interrupted by Jamin Olivencia, who comes to the ring and demands Johnny Spade come to the ring, because he's not leaving until he does. Spade comes out and they get in each other's faces as Jamin tells Spade that a real man wouldn't super kick somebody when their back is turned. Spade says he'll super kick Jamin to his face right now. A couple referees come out as well as the Mobile Homers, Nick Dumeyer, & Elvis Pridemoore to break them up. Trailer Park Trash, followed by Josie, comes out and says since they want to go at it so bad, they will meet in the main event in a non-title match for a preview of SNS.

Eddie "E.F.D." Diamond (w/Timmy Danger) vs. "The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal
Royal starts out with a couple chops to Diamond. Diamond gets in a few punches, before Royal takes control back and soon after hits the Royal Treatment for the pin. WINNER: ROYAL. After the match, Royal is celebrating on the ropes when BS 2.0 runs out and attacks him. They leave the ring, as Royal gets back up and yells at them to get back in. They do, and Royal gets in a few shots before they beat him down again. Chris Bolin grabs a mic and says he wants to act big and bad on twitter, but at SNS, he will go 1-on-1 with Rocco Bellagio! MY VIEW: Has Randy bitten off more than he can chew? And will the numbers game put him at a disadvantage? Hopefully, Double R has someone to watch his back Saturday night.

Backstage again, and Moose & Michael come up to the Mobile Homers who are in the middle of an armpit-farting contest. The 2 teams wish each other luck in the Nightmare Cup final as the Mobile Homers blame each other for one of them really farting.

OVW Television Title Match: Ryan Howe vs. Tony Gunn (c)
Howe came out and had some technical difficulties with his guitar, but still rocked out anyway. Ron Hed announced Tony Gunn, but Gunn didn't come out. Once again, Rob Terry came out of the opposite curtain with the TV Title in hand. He threw it in the ring at Ryan Howe, but before the referee could call for the bell, Trailer Park Trash came out and said he wasn't going to let this happen again. He said Ryan Howe would still get his title shot, but he knows Rob Terry had something to do with Ali last week, and Gunn this week after finding him laid out in the back. He said next week, Ryan Howe would get his title match against Tony Gunn, and since Terry wants to keep getting involved, it will be a triple threat match! MY VIEW: Tony Gunn will get his chance to get some revenge on Terry for laying him out, and Ryan Howe will still get his shot at gold, but does Terry deserve the title shot? How will Howe and Gunn take down the big man next week?

"Smooth" Johnny Spade vs. Jamin Olivencia
A good back and forth match that gave the fans in attendance a good preview of what to expect at SNS. Spade & Jamin tried to pull out all the stops to prove who's better. Toward the end, Spade went for a super kick on Jamin, but Jamin ducked and Spade nailed referee Chris Sharpe. Spade & Jamin went back to exchanging blows as the Mobile Homers, Moose, Michael Hayes, Nick Dumeyer, & Elvis came out again to break them up. Jamin put his hands up and stuck his hand out for a truce as the Mobile Homers & the rest left the ring. Spade went to shake, but Jamin pulled him into the Standing O DDT as Sharpe came back to life enough to make the 3. WINNER: JAMIN. After the match, Jamin held the Heavyweight Title up over Spade before laying it across his stomach. MY VIEW: The crowd is split, and regardless of who you are rooting for, one thing is certain: These 2 superstars are going to lay it all on the line at SNS and fans are going to be treated to a great match!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:
Fabiano Rolento (w/Epiphany) b. J. Best. Fabiano again spent most of the match trying to impress Epiphany. Fabiano is comedy gold. Fabiano got in most of the offense and was able to roll Best up for the pin. After the match, Fabiano asked Epiphany for a kiss, but she slammed him instead. MY TAKE: I hope Fabiano gets featured on TV for those readers who have yet to see him. I'm happy to report his getting a win tonight.

Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic b. Alex Silva & Jessie Belle. OVW's GutCheck winners met up in this mixed tag which saw Bostic attack Silva from behind early to get the advantage. Silva started coming back when Taeler got in the ring to distract him. Bostic came up from behind and knocked Silva out of the ring. Jessie Belle then entered the ring where Taeler turned around into a spear. Jessie Belle ran off the ropes, but Bostic got in her way and she plowed into him and told him to get out of the way. This allowed Taeler to shake the cobwebs and sneak up from behind to roll up Jessie Belle with a handful of tights for the win. MY TAKE: Will this same finish happen at SNS, or does Jessie Belle prove she's the better redhead and take the gold away from Taeler?
